Tackle Football & Flag Football
The Department of Parks and Recreation offers many opportunities to learn and play the game of football. Introduce your child to the game, play the game in one of our recreational leagues or attend a fun-filled Summer Day Camp.
Classes are offered for children from ages 6 to 12 at some of our community center facilities. Certified instructors lead lessons to teach the skills necessary to learn the game. Here are the classes we have to offer:
Football Skills (Children) for ages 6 to 12. These classes are designed to teach the skills of the game; running, throwing, catching and blocking. Students will learn to develop discipline, enjoy teamwork, build a good work ethic and develop mental/physical toughness. Classes have historically been held at these sites:

The Prince George’s County Boys & Girls Club Football League. The Department of Parks and Recreation supports this league. Tackle Football Games are play in a Fall League. Flag Football Games are played in a Spring League. Youth sports clubs are located all throughout the county.
Fall Tackle Football League. Games are played between Labor Day and Thanksgiving. Leagues are set-up for even number age groups (i.e. 6u, 8u, 10u, 12u & 14u). League age is based on your child’s age as of July 31st of the current year.
Spring Flag Football League. Games are played between May 1st and June 30th. Leagues are set-up for even number age groups (i.e. 6u, 8u, 10u, 12u & 14u). League age is based on your child’s age as of January 1st of the current year. Prices vary from team to team. To get league details or find a team near you, go to www.pgcbgc.com. Inter-Center Flag Football League
This league plays games in the Fall from Labor Day through Halloween. Community Center teams are located throughout the county. This is a non-contact league. Teams competing in the ages 6/7 and 8/9 divisions will play 5 vs 5. Teams competing in the 10/11 and 12/14 divisions will play 8 vs. 8. Registration fee is $60 and includes team jersey and shorts.
